services, applications and systems
The mission of SAYservice is to develop advanced solutions in the field of service integration
exploiting the competitive advantage of continuous innovation implied by the tight link with research.
SAYservice SRL is a company established in 2009 as a spin-off of the
Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK),
with the goal to bring to the market the results of over 10 years of research in the field of
Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and of the Internet of Services.
SAYservice develops and maintains the SMART platform, which supports the realization, enactment and maintenance of software applications that, exploiting existing services provided through Internet or company-owned Intranets, allow people or companies to access, in an integrated way, services available in specific contexts. The SMART platform represents also the starting point to develop the products marketed by SAYservice. All the results from the innovative research conducted over Service Oriented Architectures in SAYservice come together inside the SMART platform.
SMART allows modeling, in a flexible and effective way, services made available by the most disparate technologies, such as web pages, websites, RSS feeds, mail, SMS, Bluetooth, RFID, NFC, REST and SOAP services, in order, to support the integration and interoperability among services. SMART allows handling integrated services, particularly by monitoring them. SMART allows immediately providing users with the services aimed at them, through transparent, homogeneous, simple and effective modalities and interfaces. SMART allows controlling the complex processes that are built on top of services. Finally, SMART enables the exchange of data flows among different services and information sources.
Allows people, such as citizens or tourists, to exploit the services available on the territory, in a simple and immediate way via a map and a calendar, accessing them via computer or mobile devices.
Provides an operations center to monitor and intervene on complex processes such as events, production and logistic processes, and more, which integrate proprietary and third-party services.
Vertical solutions for the Public Administration in the context of interoperability and applicative cooperation, to ease and monitor the data flow among systems communicating via domain ports based on the SP-COOP standard.
SOA-based solutions to handle complex systems, with specific focus to the connection among different techniques, and their realization and execution.

The company is a small entreprise aiming at combining research and market activities in the area of service integration. The former are pursued in tight collaboration with FBK and more in general with the world of research, and are aimed at preserving and continuously activating the innovative content of its solutions. The latter are pursued through projects focused on development and integration of services, trying to feed partnerships with companies that develop more traditional solutions.
Starting from the technological core asset provided by ASTRO, a set of solutions supporting the interoperability, integration and composition of services, SAYservice has developed a software platform named SMART to model and handle services, to integrate them and made them available both via Web and via mobile devices. On one side, the implemented solutions allow to rapidly and flexibly integrate services existing on the Web, independently from the technology used to provide them (web services, web pages, remote procedures, REST services, mail, SMS, proximity services and so on). On the other, it allows users to exploit integrated services in a transparent and effective way, without taking the burden of handling the heterogeneity among them. SAYservice makes use of this platform in developing, producing and maintaining software applications that, exploiting existing services provided in Internet or within the Intranet of some company, support people or entities in accessing in an integrated way services, within specific contexts.
The mission of SAYservice can only be achieved by working in tight connection with partners that range from public and private research institutions to IT companies, covering a broad spectrum of competences. As of current, the main collaborations of SAYservice are listed as follows.
FBK is the research center of the Autonomous Province of Trento, working in the technological field as well as on humanistic sciences. As a spin-off of FBK, SAYservice maintains a close relationship with the institute. In particular, the integration of FBK competences in the areas of Intelligent Interfaces and Interaction, Data and Knowledge Management and Software Engineering are crucial to pursue challenging research and project objectives.
NESSI (European NEtwork for Software and Service Integration) is the European Technological Platform dedicated to Software and Services. Taking part to NESSI allows SAYservice to connect to all the relevant actors in the IT market for software and services, to monitor the evolution of the European market foreseeing the technological directions, and to expand its market contacting the potential partners with which SAYservice shares the know-how, the products, and the market positions. In particular, SAYservice is a member of NESSI's Working Group on Small and Medium Enterprises, whose aim is to formulate and represent the interests and the information flows of Small and Medium Enterprises in the context of NESSI.
Know-Center, a partner of COMET, the Austrian Program of Competence Centers, is the Austrian competence center for knowledge management, and aims at originate IT innovation at the boundary between science and industry. Collaborating with Know-Center allows SAYservice to take part to projects and activities that require a substantial know-how in areas complementary to service integration, such as knowledge discovery and management and e-learning. The links and competences developed within this partnership are fundamental to investigate relevant topics such as context detection, and contextual mobile service provisioning, in the frame of a European-level research and industrial community.
Through the usage of computers, and even more through mobile devices, people search and interact with services available on the web, related to tourism, transportation, entertainment, shopping and so on. Every service exposes a different interface, that has to be “learned”, does not follow standards, and may not be thought for the effective usage of a final customer.
SAYservice proposes a new way to exploit services made available on the Web supporting people in identifying and accessing the most relevant service w.r.t. his/her context (geolocation, time, and so on). A single application, accessible via computer and mobile devices, that integrates existing services, such as websites and web pages, RSS feeds, mail, SMS, Bluetooth, Web Services, REST services, on a map that contextualizes the services in the territory and in a calendar that contextualizes them in time. This is built as a single application, whose user adoption is easy and immediate, allowing him/her to access, and also search for, different services in an integrated way.
Advantages:
Organizations that govern complex processes (events, logistic processes, production processes and so on), which integrate internal and external services and systems, require tools to manage this complexity, and to monitor the evolution of processes w.r.t. the events in the surrounding environment, with the ability to intervene in case of significant deviations from the expected behavior.
SAYservice provides entities and organizations with operation consoles through which it is possible to control the evolution of complex processes through the management of the services concurring to their evolution. An operation console allows to:
Inside operation consoles, services internal to the organization are complemented with additional systems and third-party services.
The Code for Digital Administration, a law for the Italian State, defines a set of technical rules and technological infrastructures, based on service-oriented architectures, with the goal to “federate” IT infrastructures of the Public Administration, to enable the realization of integrated services through shared rules and services. This integration aims at reducing costs and time, and to develop services centered on the user needs, avoiding repeated data requests from the administrations, as well as the duplication of information and control.
SAYservice provides advanced solutions to enable the cooperation among the services of the Public Administration, and to monitor the data flow among them. Such solutions are based on the standards, technical rules and infrastructures foreseen in the Code for Digital Administration, including e.g. Domain Ports, SP-Coop rules. In particular, the solutions proposed by SAYservice allow enriching and empowering, at the infrastructural level, the solutions provided by current standards such as Domain Ports, guaranteeing the easier integration with the the systems in the administration, a better monitoring of the integrated services, and an improved ability to manage the flows of data among the various systems.
The management of complex systems can take advantage of verification, monitoring and composition techniques that reduce the gap among the specification of such systems and their realization. SAYservice provides solutions that, in the frame of complex IT infrastructures, allow system administrators and developers to reduce the gap among the specification of systems and their realization, and to cope with problems related to the life-cycle of services, both in the Internet of Services context and in that of Enterprise Services. In particular, the technologies behind the development of the SMART platform can be reused in other contexts to complete or improve other technological platforms, namely those based on SOA architectures.
SAYservice offers its consultancy for vertical or infrastructural projects where such contribution of innovative technologies is required.
